Knik Glacier to Kenai Science Camp

KNIK GLACIER TO KENAI PENINSULA

June 15th- 21st, 2025

7 Full days of camping, adventure and lessons in the Chugach!

Join us for a 7 day natural science camp that starts with a tour of the Knik Glacier and ends at Millers Landing in Seward, AK. Alaska state students have the opportunity to earn science credit towards high school graduation. Students will participate in lessons on glaciers, ecology, marine biology, plant and animal identification through this experiential based field camp. This is a grand tour from just north of Anchorage where we will spend 1 night at the Knik Glacier. Then we travel south along the Turnagin Arm and spend 2 nights at Portage. There we will base camp and hike to Byron Glacier and Portage Pass learning about glacial processes of the Chugach Mountains. We will then head south, over Turnagain Pass where we end in Seward. In Seward we will explore the Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park, take a Kenai Fjords Tour of Resurrection Bay and hike to Caines Head.

This camp is all inclusive. Students will receive a personal packing list that includes a personal sleeping back and sleeping pad. All food, transportation and lodging are included. Students will also receive their own personal natural science kit to use and keep. The price of the trip includes all lodging and meals and while you are on the trip as well as the boat ride and canoe.

There will be an informational meeting on Monday April 15th at 4:30 pm with specifics on itinerary and the daily schedule of activities and lessons at the BP Center in Anchorage. A Zoomlink will be available for remote/distance families.
