Emily Lester
I grew up in the shadow of the Cascades in the Pacific Northwest. I began climbing mountains in college and soon found myself mesmerized by glaciers and rivers and became completely addicted to the adventure. Over the past 20 years I have worked in the outdoor industry as a park ranger, ski instructor, mountaineering instructor, first responder, search and rescue technician and backcountry guide. My passion for adventure in wild lands and creating unique trips through inspiring landscapes keeps me on the move. I spent 11 years working in national parks across the American west including: Devils Postpile, Yosemite, Katmai, Denali and North Cascades. My focus with the national parks was in wilderness management and preventative search and rescue. Educating the public on how to stay safe in adverse terrain and weather conditions has been an objective of mine throughout my career. After my time with the NPS, I obtained my MA in Education and have worked in schools in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Alaska teaching Language Arts and working in SPED. I currently live in Galena, approximately 250 air miles west from Fairbanks on the Yukon River where I teach at Galena Interior Learning Academy. I am always ready for a good adventure and look forward to getting out with you!
